The second of the District Tartans designed and registered by David McGill in 2997. The work on the composition and colours in this tartan was undertaken in collaboration with the Scout Association across North and South Lanarkshire. The colours were chosen by young people to depict the natural heritage and landscape of the regions with green being most prominent in homage to the rolling hills and blue, the beloved colour of Scotland. The tartan is for use by anyone from or associated with the County of Lanarkshire with International Tartans consent.
